The film was made during a 65,000 km tour of Black Africa and the Far East. The Théâtre de l’Union Française troupe, directed by André Roussin, organised performances on improvised theatrical stages. It performed plays by Molière, Racine, Cocteau, Roussin, Achard, Mauriac and Giraudoux. Travelling by plane, lorry, train and boat, the troupe had to set up and dismantle the sets in addition to the performance, whatever the circumstances. In this film, Guy Loriquet offers a travel diary of this travelling troupe, with improvised commentary by André Roussin, Monique Gérard and himself.
